Welcome to a community with a proud tradition of integrity and a strong commitment to excellence. In addition to private lessons with our experienced teachers, we encourage students to take advantage of the following special privileges:
- Piano lessons take place on well-maintained grand pianos, including two Steinway & Sons pianos
- We have six bright, spacious teaching studios, each equipped with two pianos for duos and ensembles
Our School holds monthly Studio Recitals on our Steinway grand piano in the Chopin Room. These recitals provide students with regular performance opportunities in front of a supportive audience including their peers.
Proper dress code is required to ensure a real-world performance experience and to promote professionalism on stage, just as Miss Lyons had envisioned and upheld.

We hold recitals at venues around the city and encourage our students to pursue performance opportunities and participate in festivals across Canada, such as the Canadian Music Competition, as well as internationally.

We offer a variety of specialized enrichment classes for different age groups, encouraging students to expand their musical knowledge and form friendships in a fun, musical environment. Classes offered throughout the year include:
- Piano Ensemble Program (all ages welcome; students are grouped based on level)
- Masterclasses (all ages welcome; minimum RCM Level 8)
- Sight Reading Classes
Past classes have included:
- Piano Play (ages 5–8)
- Studio Club (ages 9–11)
- Creative Music Program (ages 9–14)

Attending concerts is a crucial and inspiring component of music education and appreciation. School students and their families can enjoy:
- Discounted tickets for performances by the Vancouver Recital Society, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Vancouver Opera
- Field trips to special events, supporting cultural performances and activities in our vibrant city
Our School has a wide variety of over 1,000 records, tapes, and CDs, as well as hundreds of music scores, many of which are now out of print.
We have a proud tradition of offering the finest training in all theoretical subjects. We incentivize high achievement in theory with the following awards:
- Championship Cup: Awarded to the student with the highest mark in each grade.
- Gold Medallions:
- Awarded to students scoring 95% or higher in Theory Levels 5–8.
- Awarded to students scoring 90% or higher in Theory Level 9–ARCT (Harmony, Counterpoint, Analysis, or History).
Our School awards scholarships for outstanding achievements in exams, festivals, and studio contests. We encourage donations to our Scholarship Fund to continue recognizing and rewarding students for their dedication and excellence. If you are interested in contributing, please contact us.
